Membership

There are many benefits of becoming a member of the SLMA.
Firstly, you become a member of the oldest medical professional association in Asia and Australia and the largest medical professional association in Sri Lanka. Members are entitled to receive copies of SLMA publications such as the quarterly Ceylon Medical Journal and the monthly news letter free or at a subsidised rate. Members are also entitled to reduced rates at fee levying events of the SLMA such as the Annual Academic Sessions, the Foundation Sessions and the Medical Dance. Members also get an opportunity to serve the medical profession and the country, through the various committees and projects of the association. Membership also entitles you to become elected to the council and give you voting rights.

The healthy mix of general practitioners and other specialists in the SLMA gives it a unique diversity. This helps practitioners of different fields to interact with each other academically and socially.

Membership is open to all qualified medical practitioners registered with the Sri Lanka Medical Council under section 29 of the Medical Act. Medical students may join as student members by producing proof of their student status - usually a letter from the Dean/Registrar of his/her medical Faculty.
